Each year Hunterdon Hospice holds an annual non-denominational Memorial Service to honor the individuals it has served. This year was the organization’s 22nd annual service, which was held at the Presbyterian Church of Flemington, located on Main Street. “We invite the family and friends of the people we cared for on hospice that year to the service. We are so appreciative of the Presbyterian Church and their support. They not only allow us to use their beautiful church to have our service in, but their members support us as well. Jean Mayersky organizes a reception with refreshments for the people who attend, and their Pastor, Rev. Dr. Thomas Robinson, participated in the service,” says Joy Stump, Volunteer Coordinator with Hunterdon Hospice. “They truly reflect the spirit of community and their generosity allows individuals to share their grief with others who have experienced some of the same things,” says Stump. Individuals are asked to participate during the ceremony by bringing small items or mementos of their loved one. Readings and special musical presentations help to make this service a moving and unique tribute. “Many of our bereavement services are not just for families who have been on Hunterdon Hospice, they are open to the entire community,” says Anne Boyle, Director of Hospice.
